More and more people are using the Internet to locate products and services. Google is the king of "search" on the web. To be found on Google, your site needs to be optimised so that it ranks well in Google.
So why do some sites do better on Google than others? Google uses a complex algorithm to produce the most relevant result for the user based on what the user types into the search box. Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines (for example, Google, Yahoo and Ninemsn) via "organic" search results. Typically, the higher a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine.
There are two types of SEO, "on-page optimisation" (click here to read more about this?) and "off-page optimisation" (click here for more information on off-page optimisation). Websites produced by us include all the on-page optimisation as standard. Off-page optimisation involves improving traffic to your site. A mix of on-page and off-page optimisation are necessary to see meaningful results.

On-page optimisation ensures that the page/site is designed to be found by the search engine. While this may sound obvious, this process is often overlooked by web designers who focus on producing "good looking" sites. A great looking site will only do well if people can find it so as the small business owner you need both if the site is to produce results. Some of the more important aspects of on-page optimisation include:
As we have stated several times on this page, search engines want to provide users with the best possible results for their search phrase. Another part of search engine algorithms considers how "well respected" a site is based on the number of links coming into a website. The theory being is that if the content of your site is worth other sites linking to, then there must be something valuable on your site for people to find. The higher the quality of these links, the more beneficial it is for your site. Part of our off-page strategy is to create meaningful and correctly structured inbound links to your site.
